Additionally, the workstream seeks to establish an approach for addressing diverse levels of training requirements. Progress to date:

All areas have shared their training offer, which were reviewed by the group with some differences identified:
           •      What is classed as universal, targeted, specialist?
           •      What is offered free and what incurs a cost?
           •      The scale of training being provided.

Agreed in principle to focus on a standard training offer for all schools with 5 core subjects.
           •      Spoken Language and Narrative
           •      Understanding Language
           •      Vocabulary
           •      Speech Sounds
           •      Early Communication

5 key training principles have also been discussed to ensure the training offered is the most impactful.

Update 18 April 2024:

Our People Workstream leaders have brought together training materials from different SLT services, polishing and improving them based on feedback from colleagues and aligning them to our agreed principles.

The next step is to give these presentations a fresh look and professional vibe with cool new branding! We aim to have these finalised and ready for a September rollout.

Update 5th July 2024:

The School Offer Training has been refined and rebranded and is now under final review, ready for rollout very soon. We've gathered and improved training materials from various SLT services, incorporating your feedback and aligning them with 5 key  principles:

  • Identification of children
  • The impact that difficulties have
  • General strategies
  • Specific interventions
  • Making it practical in the classroom
