Accessibility Statement

This Accessibility Statement covers:

www.cambspborochildrenshealth.nhs.uk

This website is run by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. We are a Public Sector Body and answerable to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). It is responsible for making sure that we comply with the latest law related to public sector websites. Therefore, Cambridgeshire Community Services Trust is committed to making our website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand following NHS guides and lots of co-production with people who use our services.

The body text of this website uses Atkinson Hyperlegible font. This was developed in partnership with the Braille Institute to specifically to increase legibility for readers with low vision, and to
improve comprehension.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

This website is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 Level AA due to the exemptions the non-compliances and exemptions listed here:

  • If you cannot see very well and use a screen reader to help you, some of our older versions of PDF and Word documents published before September 2018 cannot be read by a screen reader. Providing they are not essential (in relation to our services) they are exempt. For documents such as patient leaflets these are all available in multiple formats to fit any users need as explained on the leaflets. We are currently in a programme of converting leaflets into web page information and transferring information across to this website.
  • If you cannot see very well, some of our older animations published before September 2018 do not include voiceovers. Even though these are exempt, we are working to ensure highly watched videos have voiceovers added.
  • If you cannot hear very well, some of our older videos (that include speech) published before September 2018 do not have captions to tell you what is being said. Even though these are exempt, we are working to ensure highly watched videos have captions added.
  • If English is not your first language, not all our videos and animations have alternative captions. Even though these are exempt, we are working to ensure all videos and animations have their scripts underneath, these can then be translated using our accessibility tool.
